Essay Instructions: I need to compare/contrast "The Veldt' by Ray Bradberry (b. 1920) to "Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been?" by Joyce Carol Oates (b. 1938)
I must present a Thesis that is supported by the rest of the essay. It must be compared and contrasted on the basis of at least 3 of these elements. (theme, personification, denouement, symbolism, dramatic situation, Rhyme, Rising Action, Falling Action, Moment of crisis, Climax, Epiphany, Diction(abstract or concrete) narrative, mode, style, metaphor.

The essay can be mostly comparison or mostly contrast---it does not need to be split evenly between the two. But if you contrast the texts, there needs to be enough common ground between them to make contrasting them a logical decision. Please make sure that you use enough evidence/proof to support your statements. I need at least 4 parenthetical citations.

It must be 3 pages long, MLA format, Doubled spaced ---include a words cited page with at least 3 sources 2 of which can be the stories from each author.

NOTE: Joyce Carol Oates is known for her ability to create stories with terror.
Ray Bradberry uses terror in 'The Veldt."
